Drug Store Beauty Must Haves

In recent years I have become a bit more aware of product lines that seemed to have been made just for me. Foundations that lay on my face like silk, lotions that help combat my dry Eczema prone skin and makeup that is easy enough to apply for a makeup novice like myself. What I’ve found is that I like to blend price points and diversify my beauty arsenal to be sure I am getting the best of both worlds.

Granted, you can see me perusing the aisles of high end Department stores and make up havens like Sephora to collect all the well-made brands and collections that I adore such as Mac Cosmetics, Smash Box, and Clinique. However,  I can also attest to the glorious and well-priced finds of some of my favorite and conveniently located Drug Stores.

I thought it would be fun to share some of my all-time makeup favorites and of course skin and nails products as well. Here are my inexpensive tried and true secret weapons.

For My Eyes-

Rimmel London Volume Flash Max Bold Curves Mascara

One of my favorite mascaras that gives me full/bold lashes for a fraction of the cost. This particular brand has a thick formula and is easy to apply with its curved applicator wand.

Milani  Eye Pencil – True Black

I am a fan of the Milani eye pencil due to its smooth application and overall coverage. It is so easy to add this dark black to my water line to create a dramatic eye with depth.

For My Lips-

Rimmel London Moisture Renew Lipstick – 380 Vintage Pink/Airy Fairy

LOVE…LOVE…LOVE this brand of lipstick. It is very moisturizing and has a smooth and glossy finish. Very good color coverage and a great price. As many of you already know I am crazy about Airy Fairy and I now have another FAV…Vintage Pink.

Burts Bees Lip Balm – Pomegranate

If you want well moisturized lips especially in colder climates this is it. Unlike most effective lip balms this particular formula is not minty nor does it tingle. Instead it melts into your lips and allow them to become instantly moisturized and kiss-ably soft.

For My Face -

Milani Press Powder

I love using this pressed powder to help set my face after I’ve applied any liquid foundation. I find this to be the cheap alternative to Mac’s Mineralized Skin Finish and even I was amazed of the performance and blending capability of this awesome product.

For My Skin-

Clean And Clear Cream Facial Cleanser

I keep it simple when it comes to my skin care and through the years have switched up a few facial products. Well…I have YET to change my facial cleanser. Since High School(Oh wow years ago…lol) I have been very brand loyal to this particular cleanser since it keeps my face break out free without drying it out. I love the thick consistency which allows for only a little to be needed per use. Helps me save even more money. :-)

Oil of Olay Complete Moisture Lotion(COMBINATION/Oily Skin)

When it comes to moisturizing my skin I have bounced around quite a bit until I found the one that works for my skin in all conditions. Since certain parts of my skin are prone to eczema I have to be careful what I choose to use during the colder/dryer winter months in Chicago. Oil of Olay has been a winner so far keeping my face moisturized but not greasy which is a very important factor for my no makeup days.

Eucerin Smoothing Essentials

I am madly in love with this lotion! I am very particular about what lotion I choose due to my very dry and sometimes irritated skin(winter months). I love that fact that the formula is not sticky, oily and overly thick. The consistency is just right and is fast absorbing with soothing properties, fragrance free as well to be sure my skin isn’t irritated.

For My Nails-

Sally Hansen Hard as Nails – Sheer Strawberry

Just recently I have started to get more involved in my nails health and the overall look of my fingertips. Now that I am starting to take care of my nails at home I’ve noticed a few brands that allow my nails to grow without breakage and that keep my nails looking lovely at the same time. I am a huge fan of the Sheer Strawberry from the Hard as Nails Collection. Very soft and classy color that is shiny and flawless and is also helping to protect my nails. Loves it!

Revlon Manicure Essentials Nail Care Kit

This kit works out perfectly for me and believe it or not I actually own 3! LOL. One for the office, one for my purse, and one to be kept in my nail box at home. This amazing kit has everything you’ll ever need to maintain lovely healthy looking nails. The case is very petite and can easily be put away or taken with you while on the go. Hangnail…no problem!

What are some of your beauty product secrets? Shhh….I won’t tell if you don’t.

Hi,i have a question about face cleansing. So i wash my face with the same product you listed but my face gets really dry, then i use body lotion. But i always feel like why wash my face then again put on lotion. What do you do? Oh and i use really warm water before and after. Does the water temp affect?

I love the L’Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes mascara. LOVE IT! My favorite eyeliner is the Cover Girl crayon line – great go-to. Regular Chapstick has been my pick for balm. I don’t have the nail kit – I need to get one, though.

I cleanse with St. Ives apricot scrub, but I can’t decide on a moisturizer because everything seems to break me out. Still on the hunt there.Because of my sensitive skin, I tend to forego face powder/foundation until I can find something that works for me.

I ADORE Milani’s baked bronzer! I used it for the first time over the weekend and fell in love. My skin looked so smooth and radiant! I was milking the compliments for sure! I love drug store make up because it’s good to practice with before you spend so much money and have no clue what you’re doing LOL.
