Open Letter To All My Fans

I know a lot of you have been asking about me. And I appreciate it. I’ve been M.I.A. for good reason. Recently, I was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor, a cancerous sarcoma, that caused my world to turn upside down in a matter of seconds.  Who knows how strong you have to be until you are faced with so many life changing decisions.

On April 15, 2014 I had an unexplained stroke. Out of nowhere I was faced with slurred speech, facial drooping, and numbness in my right hand. This would be the first of three consecutive strokes and two brain surgeries over the next three months.

I was diagnosed with a rare sarcoma (or vascular cancerous tumor) in my brain. The tumor caused me to suffer multiple mild strokes, which have led to certain physical and speech challenges including an Aphasia diagnosis (a disturbance of the delivery of language – not at all linked to a loss of intelligence). So I’m still the same Meechy! Just with some challenges.

In preparation for the procedure, rather than lose my hair, I had it carefully shaved, preserved and donated to Locks of Love—a not-for-profit organization which focuses on Cancer patients coping with hair loss. Now, after my second brain surgery on July 3, 2014, I am making drastic improvements with the help of physical, occupational and speech therapy and currently awaiting the next phase of my treatment—radiation and chemo therapy.

Through it all I am blessed. I am grateful for my faith because I couldn’t get through this without it. “Seek the Lord and His strength…remember his marvelous works that he hath done.”

“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth, but thou shalt meditate thereon day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” Joshua 1:8

I hope that you will share in my recovery by following my story here on my blog for weekly updates.  Please join my family, friends, fans and supporters in making this recovery a hopeful and encouraging experience. You all have followed my journey up until and I want to urge you to stay with me as I need all the encouragement and support I can get!

I am new to your blog and your strength throughout this is motivation for me to keep going in spite of my hardships. The fact that you can still keep your smile while going through something this drastic speaks volumes about how great of a person you are and I would like to thank you for that. Your courage encourages me. I’ve never met you but I can tell that you have a beautiful spirit and believe it or not it’s contagious. It makes me want to be better so that I can be a blessing to others because that’s what you are to me. I know I’m rambling at this point but I just wanted to let you know you’re in my thoughts and prayers. Stay strong and prayerful…Get well soon Meechy!

God is good Meechy!! Yes He is… I know this in a very intimate way because I went thru the same and similar thing/things you’re dealing with now several years ago. I also have systemic Lupus, Pulmonary Fibrosis, and a blood disease as well. My world changed in a matter of moments (not minutes).

Countless Rounds of chemo, hospitalizations, specialized and experimental procedures and treatments. And all the medication! On a good day I take 32 pills and 3 shots, lol!!! Yes, I can laugh about all the pills I take because I AM STILL HERE!!

And you will be able to say the same!! It’s not an easy road, and with prayers and faith, you will make it!! Please feel free to reach out to me, or anyone you feel you can unload on, because you will need that… People love you Meechy.

Lifting you, your family and friends, and your whole medical team up in prayer!

    Be well my friend,
(I talk about some of my journey there)

Meechy, may The Lord richly bless, keep you, make his grace shine upon you and grant you peace in the time of the storm. The test is here to provide a testimony, but remember to look to the hill from which comets our help and as you so eloquently put your help comes from The Lord. God knows his plan for good and not for evil. Blessings and mercy in Jesus name. Donna “Dana”, RN

“(Meechy) will live and not die and she will declare what the Lord has done for her”. Psalm 118:17 This is a scripture my mom used to quote over me when I was diagnosed with stage four cancer (except she inserted my name in it). My doctors said several times that I would die but I am here today 6 years later to encourage you. “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared to the glory that is to be revealed to us.” Romans 8:18. Keep on fighting Meechy, even after treatment you will have your struggles but just know that God has a greater plan for you and that the glory that is to come is greater than your suffering. If you ever need to talk or need a word of encouragement do not hesitate to email me at Have faith in God he can and will do miraculous things just believe!

Your journey is a difficult one but nothing is impossible to God! Keep the positive in and remember that the Lord will not give us a struggle we cannot endure. Best wishes and may God grant you many more years.

I don’t know you, and one day I just happened to stumble upon your YouTube channel for tips on how to care for my natural hair…I truly feel in my heart as a Christian that you are my sister in Christ in the spiritual realm. As the whole world takes on your story and places you near & dear to our hearts, It reminds me of a saying “I Am My Sisters Keeper” I want you to know that I am praying for your strength, and healing to fight the good fight, that you give me inspiration to endure any stumbling blocks that comes my way, and that I can do ALL things through Christ that Strengthens me in the name of Jesus!

    (Isaiah‬ ‭53‬:‭4-5‬ NIV)
Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.
